Man alive, it's been a long time since I've updated. So yeah, I've recorded a lot songs since the last post and I'm looking for a new electric guitar.
On a bigger note, I've gotten engaged, bought a new condo with my fiancee, and traveling to Asia next month. That's a lot in a year but I feel I'm up for it.
I've changed but it's the first time I've consciencely noticed it happen. Most of the time, I could only notice after looking back but these days there's a subtle change in my character. It's almost a brightness or shine in my soul. I think it makes me a better person.

Anyways, it's been a while but for reference I picked up all the equipment below except I got the Studio Projects VTB1 preamp instead.
I used the equipment for a while now and all in all, the stuff if very good quality but I think I could have gotten away with some cheaper stuff for my needs.
Anyways, I recorded some sweet songs so far so I guess you can't put a price on that...

Life Goal #51 - Write and create a music CD.
So I've been playing music for a while and I think it's about time to try to record a few songs. Getting studio time is quite expensive so I've been looking at setting up a home recording studio so I can record and burn the CDs myself. Neither is cheap but at least I can take my time at home.
So I've been doing a little bit of research and I had to change my underwear after looking at the prices. I decided to switch to Depends and start making a list of the best value components I could get for the cheapest price.
Microphone - Studio Projects B1 Mic + Stand $129US
Preamp - Behringer Mic100 $80CAN
Compressor - FMR RNC $180US
Sound Card - M-Audio 2496 Audiophile $210 CAN
I've heard lots of good things about the Studio Projects mics so I'm going to try it out but I am probably going to get a Shure SM57 in the future. I was tempted to get a USB sound interface because they looked so nice but the best bang for the buck is the Audiophile. Behringer Mic100 is the cheapest tube preamp and it had some good reviews so I'm going to try it out but it would be nice to try out a more expensive preamp. The compressor is basically killing me. The FMR RNC compressor has awesome reviews saying it's preforms just like a 4-5x its price but basically at $300CAN its the most expensive component and I can pick a cheaper one up for half the price.
Geez, I hope this is worth it.

Have you ever had a song where you can't remember the title, melody and lyrics? All I can remember taking a leak in a washroom a couple weeks ago and hearing a lesser known pop song on the speakers. It sounded early 90's Britpop and I distinctly remember making a mental note to download it but I have no leads. It's sort of bugging me but fortunately I found a great song:
Dashboard Confessional - "As Lovers Go"
Penned by the charming emo champ Chris Carrabba in his long titled disc, "A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar". Some fans and critics were a little apprehensive with the full band and extra production but I was sold after hearing this song. The melodies are the most sweet and addictive I have sampled ever since I was hooked on Lucky Charms in the 5th grade.
I have a ton of other songs I could talk for hours and hours but I'll just wait for next time.

Oh yeah, I just love music. I want to use this spot to list some great bands and tracks I've been listening to. I'm generally I like to rock but I shake my booty all sorts of music. I'm not that picky or have much of an attitude towards anything..
Well, what can I say? This is my first post and I plan to write about my life and views as a young canadian born korean (CBK) guy. My parent immigrated from Korea and I grew up in Canada in small town in Ontario with a mainly Caucasian population. I'm a typical banana ... I speak only english, I don't eat rice all the time, and I feel the need to group together with other asians that much. I don't mind, I'm at one with my banana-ness.
It wasn't until recently that I started thinking about the dynamics of my korean background and my canadian life (or any ethnic background in a predominantly white country for that matter). How does society accept us, how do I view myself, and where will this trend move in the future?
I guess when I'm not discussing this, I'll just be shooting the shit a lot.
